Běhounková, Anežka ; Pospíšilová, Marie (advisor) ; Čížek, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the thesis "Voluntary abstinence in connection with the influence of the social environment" is to study the motivations of late adolescents that lead to refuse alcohol consumption. The work is also focused on the perceived role of social environment in this type of abstinence. Background consists of texts relating to the conformity and the influence of social environment, research and statistics that demonstrate the atmosphere of the environment in which the volunteer drinkers live. The research is based on interviews with eight college students who were interviewed using semi-structured interview method. The interviews are focused on how informants perceived attitudes towards alcohol consumption in their family, among their peers and friends, as well on what impression they have of the society's attitude to alcohol. Part of the dialogue is also the voluntary abstainers' point of view on how the social environment reflects them. Last but not least are mentioned the reasons for abstinence. The analysis has revealed that respondents do not consider their family to have a direct influence on their abstinence. Consumption of animal-based products among ecologically active individuals
Kalčoková, Maša ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the paradox that arises based on a conflict of actions and opinions on the consumption of animal products. The aim of the work was to reveal the social factors that cause this discrepancy, assuming that social factors play an important role. This assumption is based on the consideration of meat as a social construct rooted in culture, and thus the consumption of meat is examined in this paper not as an individual decision but as a result of the influences of different institutions and social structures. This paradox is being studied on ecologically active individuals, and it is assumed that in this case the discrepancy between opinions on animal products and actual behaviour will be even more pronounced. The conclusion of the work reveals as one of the most important factors family and traditions, which cause that individuals are afraid of exclusion from the social group of the family and at the same time they want to be true to traditions. Respondents often preferred to conform to members of the groups to which they belong or to culture and traditions. The work also deals with the guilt caused by this discrepancy, taking into account the impact of ecology as an external factor.

Macko, Milan ; Sousedík, Prokop (advisor) ; Svoboda, David (referee)
This thesis deals with the current egoistic nature of man. The first part of the paper will describe the historical background and the rise of empirical science and will point out the newly emerging cultural paradigm which has influenced the whole value system and general development of today's society. This will be followed up by the description of an individual phenomena that guides the acceptance of social principles actively pursued within our society these days. Parsing of individual factors using the method of analysis and synthesis will allow us to approach the very phenomenon of egoism from a wider perspective. The focus of this paper is to attempt to answer whether man's dependency on today's society leads to the development of egoistic characteristic in a person. The paper will also attempt, using philosophical and theological reflection and modern science, to find an outline for a solution that would be beneficial to the advancement of an altruistic profile of civilization. Keywords Jesus, Plato, Sokrates, the good, egoism, emphaty, philosophy, genetics, intelligence, values, conformity, consumer society, power, science

The theme of my thesis is Conformity and Authority, social psychology of Nazism. The purpose of my thesis is to analyse human behaviour during the Nazi period, in particular human tendency to conformity behaviour and obedience to the authority. I have two main reasons to choose this concrete topic for my thesis. First of all I am psychologist and it is quite interesting for me to explore theme both from law and psychological point of view. Secondly, my great - grandfather was member of resistance during The Second World War. He was executed in concentration camp in 1942. Because of his choice I was personally interested in exploring nonconformal behaviour or heroism. The thesis is divided into ten chapters including The Introduction and The Conclusion. Chapter one is The Introduction and defines basic questions which I would like to answer in my thesis. I also present the structure of whole thesis there. The second chapter concentrates on my family story I mentioned before. I provide there more details about the story of my great- grandfather and consequences of his resolution for my family. Chapter three is devoted to Nazism and is subdivided into four subchapters - Definition, Leader, Rising of Nazism and Antisemitism. In chapter four I concentrate on Conformism. The aim of this chapter is to...

Dubová, Diana ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Hrůzová, Andrea (referee)
Social meanings of male beards Abstract The study focuses on male beard modification, primarily on the significance of beard in the society and beard's ability of social communication. The study is based on the theory of first impression and categorization; male beards are regarded as source of conflictual and cooperative action. Theoretical part draws on previous research about attributed characteristics of beard, fashion and social communication of beard in the past, especially on the European continent, where beards communicated ethnicity, social status, gender and generational distances, sympathy and antipathy to the current events and values. Furthermore, the thesis concentrates on social communication of beard in the present and its perception in the society. Empirical part is based on a questionnaire survey and answers to the question which characteristics are currently attributed to male beard modification in the Czech Republic. Final findings confirm that beards are perceived as symbol of masculinity, dominance and social maturity, clean shaved face and face with mustache or goatee, taken as signs of conformity, are generally well-received, while faces with stubble receive negative ratings.
